Patrick Murray "Pat" Smythe〔(Usborne family tree ), usbornefamilytree.com; accessed 20 June 2015.〕 (24 March 1860 – 19 March 1935) was an Anglican priest in the second quarter of the 20th century. He was born into a clerical family〔His father, also Patrick Murray Smythe, was the sometime Rector of Solihull>“Who was Who” 1897-2007 London, A & C Black, 2007; ISBN 978-0-19-954087-7〕 on 24 March 1860 and educated at Charterhouse and Keble College, Oxford.
Ordained in 1883, he was initially a curate at St Mark's, Swindon〔(Parish web site )〕 and then held incumbencies at Rockingham, WestburyCrockford's Clerical Directory London, OUP, 1929, p. 1204〕 and Kettering before being appointed Provost of St Ninian's Cathedral, Perth in 1911, a post he held for 24 years.〔”Scottish Episcopal Clergy, 1689-2000” Bertie, D.M: Edinburgh T & T Clark; ISBN 0-567-08746-8.〕
